The combination of DK, Fof8 and Merino makes for a very light, open, loose scarf which needs handling with care. I started the Fof8 at the very first row : the result is attractively loopy/lacy, but especially vulnerable to snagging. To avoid this at the end, before the cast-off row, I added a row of plain stocking stitch, which needed care with tension but it was clearly more practical, and so I retrospectively added stocking stitch to the start ; but I have to say that this didn't look as pretty as I'd hoped! Denise was much too gracious to turn up her nose at my efforts!
This was my first knitting loom project since buying the book pictured here. (Indeed this is my first book on the subject.) Previously I was just going on very basic instructions that came with a collection of knitting looms that I bought at a crafts shop in Lampeter.
