Music : Florence and Herbert

Jonathan >  Acquired yesterday in Aberaeron, two CD albums by acclaimed artists :

 

Just one difference : Herbert Von Karajan conducting ; Berlin Philharmonic and both Anton Dvorjak and Tchaikovsky as compers are each and all acclaimed and famed over decades, even a century and more.

That's not to denigrate Florence and her friend, The Machine. Whist, to the uncritical , they could often be lumped in with many other tall-thin-long-haired young females of the past 10 years or so, these two break through the conventions of their genre, reaching hidden depths and unforseen connections, spurring me to press the back button to listen again more attentively.  That's something that the profoundly acclaimed Karajan and Co have never claimed from me!
